Hey! We are Louis and Eline.
In 2024, we traded city life in Antwerp for the tranquility of a residential neighborhood in the municipality of Overijse. A conscious choice for more space, less hustle, and a better rhythm.
I (Eline) had only just discovered that Pilates was the sport for me. Believe me, maintaining a workout routine seemed impossible for me, but this one stuck. For the first time, I had a routine that truly worked for me – half an hour of Pilates via YouTube every day. Sometimes early in the morning to start the day, sometimes in the evening when I got home from the office. Depending on how much time I had and what intensity I wanted, I chose a new exercise daily. I quickly saw results, felt better about myself, and improved my performance. My strength, flexibility, and endurance grew. My friends – who often cite lack of time as the main reason not to persevere – were inspired by my story. During outings, I taught Pilates, and they also started doing it at home!
Meanwhile, I was also attracted to Reformer Pilates, but nowhere nearby was that option available. Those who live outside the city quickly notice that Reformer Pilates is barely available there. The nearest studio was a 30-minute drive away, with fixed hours and high prices. I wasn't willing to do that….
And that's where the idea began to grow: why should exercise always depend on locations, fixed times, and subscriptions?
Our mission quickly became clear:
People should have the freedom to exercise whenever they want, without depending on studios. Just at home.
But every home is different. Some are bigger than others, and that shouldn't be a reason not to be able to do reformer. Studio reformers are large, heavy, and take up a lot of space. Not realistic for most homes. That led to the design of the Wood Reformer: completely foldable, movable on wheels, and with a footprint of less than 1m². This way, it fits in any house or apartment.
Louis, who has been a passionate athlete for years and is strongly convinced of the importance of physical activity, was intrigued by my fitness journey. No stranger to his curious and scientific tendencies, he began, as usual, to read up on the benefits of Reformer Pilates. Joseph Pilates gained a new fan. There was only one thing he couldn't grasp: "Most Reformers look like hospital beds. Functional, yes – but aesthetically totally unappealing for a living space. If a device is in your home daily, it should also be beautiful." That's when we decided to design all our reformers in Belgium, focusing on quality, solid wood, sober tones, and timeless aesthetics.
This is how Wood Reformer was born. Our vision: movement without barriers. We want to inspire people to find a routine that is easy to start and sustainable in the long term. No agenda. No travel. No compromises.
